HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
Our goal is to promote green technology through electronics recycling and refurbishment, while allowing people to make a difference in the lives of grieving people. There are many ways to recycle electronics and not all of them are good for the environment. Through our Less Waste, More Hope initiative e-waste must be disposed safely and efficiently. Collecting electronics from the community allows us to do our part to refurbish, re-purpose or dispose of them using environmentally responsible methods.
When electronic waste is donated to Less Waste, More Hope it goes through a screening process to determine whether or not it can be refurbished. If it can be refurbished it goes through our extensive refurbishment/testing process, once completed it will be sold.
If it is determined that we are unable to refurbish it, it is then transferred to our local state approved recycling facility. At the facility all incoming e-waste is broken down locally into circuit cards, plastics, glass (Cathode Ray Tubes), and metal. Our partner has been dedicated to complete End-of-Life (EOL) recycling of all electronic waste since their business began in July of 2002. No whole units of any type are shipped from their facilities, an example of their breakdown process can be found by clicking here
Furthermore, our partner has been a Basel Action Network Pledge Signatory since 2002. More information can be found here regarding the Basel Convention: www.basel.int/
