11th Annual Celebration of Women in Business Luncheon & Fashion Show

On Friday, June 7th at the Richard Nixon Library and Birth Place in Yorba Linda, CA New Hope was featured for the 11th year at the Celebration of Women in Business Luncheon & Fashion Show. The theme was Caribbean Breeze, the event was put on by a wonderful group of women who are members of an association that is the Orange County chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), and their chapter is known as OCAHU.  Years ago these powerhouse women created Women In Business (WIB), they wanted a way to be philanthropic and give back to a worthy cause and charity.  After a search, New Hope became their charity of choice.

Each year the event keeps getting bigger and better, this year there were over 400 attendees from across Southern California.  At the event guests had the opportunity to win a ton of themed raffle baskets, silent auction items, and some lucky winner went home with an all-expense paid grand prize trip to Aruba.

New Hope is so grateful to this amazing group of women, who year after year use their time, treasure, touch, and talents to help us fulfill our mission.  All of the money raised over the years has been used to provide 8-week grief support groups, family camps, and much more. The total dollars raised this year are not in yet, but we are very hopeful it will break last year’s amount, it was over $30,000.

As our guest, we brought a young lady that we have been able to support from our partnership with the Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy in Los Alamitos.  Her name is Miya Causey, she was one of the guest speakers at the luncheon, and she shared her story of how New Hope helped her find hope and healing after her Nana died. After she spoke, so many people approached Miya thanking her for her bravery and her willingness to be vulnerable with strangers.  One woman told Miya she had a similar life story, and that she was so glad she shared. We too are proud of Miya. It’s because of the generosity of the guests and the dedication of the Women in Business that we have the opportunity to work with young people like Miya. Together we are changing lives.
