Family Camp is Saturday, April 13, 2024

Since 2003, New Hope has offered family bereavement camps and retreats.  New Hope Family camps and retreats are designed for all types of families, not just the traditional. It’s for families who have experienced the death of a loved one, and each family member is encouraged to attend.  In a safe and supportive environment families explore their loss with other families touched by grief.

Families learn to communicate and face their grief through groups, workshops, and activities led by staff and trained facilitators that integrates peer support.  Campers discover that they can live life in a changed world with a new relationship to their loved one who has died.  Family Camp provides a balance of fun activities (sports, games, art, etc.) with grief education & exercises age appropriate for each member of the family.

Families will find comfort, hope, and healing while making new friends with other families who are also grieving a death. The purpose is that each family member is individually strengthened and supported so that the entire family can move forward together on their journey of grief to a place of new normal.

Our Camp Facilitators

Our facilitators are highly trained and compassionate volunteers who are there to support campers as they participate in activities and bond with one another. New Hope Directors oversee the facilitators throughout the entire camp.

Attending Camp

Camp is offered to any family with children that has experienced the death of a loved one. Space is limited and is available on a first come, first serve basis and upon the completion of an intake interview, staff approval and all necessary paperwork. Camp takes place at Camp Fire Long Beach.

Cost to Attend Camp

New Hope does not receive any local, state or federal funding, we rely on the generosity of individual donors to support our camp expenses.  The actual cost to New Hope is $153 per camper–a family of four is $615.   Because of the generosity of our donors we are able to only charge $150 per family to attend camp no matter the family size. We do have camp scholarships available for families who cannot afford the $150.
