New Hope Timeline
1986-
Susan K.
Beeney, R.N.
began research
and further
education
on the topics
of death
and grieving.
1987-
This research
led Susan
to co-author Journey
of Hope handbook
as a tool
for grieving
adults.
1987-
That same
year, Susan
began grief
groups in
her home.
Shortly after,
teen and
children
grief groups
were created.
1999- Susan
quit her
job to to
commit to
New Hope
Grief Support
Community
full time.
2003-
New Hope
Grief Support
Community
became a
501(c)3 non-profit.
2003-
The first
New Hope
Kids Camp
was held
at Mustard
Seed Ranch.
Since then,
six more
camps have
been held
with two
more scheduled
for this
fall.
2005-
New Hope
receives
national
recognition
in the world
of therapy
and grief
education,
partnering
with T.A.P.S.,
the military's
grief program
for families
of slain
soldiers.
2006-
New Hope
continues
to grow,
being honored
at the Orange
County Association
of Health
Underwriters
Gala event,
featured
in a world
premiere
film documentary,
and a featured
charity in
this year's
Long Beach
Marathon
