Our 6th Annual Golf Tournament Fore Hope held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Recreation Park Golf Course 18 in Long Beach was a huge success! The tournament sold out the week prior, for the first time ever, with a record 148 golfers enjoying a gorgeous day on the course. Each year, the Golf Tournament Fore Hope gives local professionals a fun-filled, energetic opportunity to play golf, while knowing that their contributions help ensure that no grieving family goes without the proper grief support.
This year’s tournament was supported by Gold Sponsors – Windes and Dow Diversified; Silver Sponsors – Schulten Group and Thrivent Financial; Bronze Sponsors – Mercury Security, Mercedes Benz of Long Beach, Alliance Psychology Group, Grace Brethren Long Beach, Law Offices of Stephen E. Cockriel, Western Tube & Conduit Corp., Total Environment Management Inc., and Wells Fargo Advisors. In addition to its Bronze Sponsorship, Mercedes Benz of Long Beach also sponsored the Hole-In-One opportunity with a beautiful car on the course, although no one made the single shot on hole 12. The 4 Man Scramble Tournament included 18 holes of golf, range balls, a putting contest, closest to the pin, longest drive, food and refreshments throughout the course from local businesses, including Gladstone’s Long Beach, Red Leprechaun, Joe Jost’s, The MarketPlace Grill & Cafe and 7-11.
The tournament was followed with the Awards Dinner and the winning team was announced–The Four Amigos. The team members included Mike Petersen, Brian Gonzales, Greg Benoit and Wes Lambert–they won with a bogey free round of 14 under. The tournament concluded with a financially beneficial raffle, compelling silent auction and awards dinner emceed by UPS Vice President of State Government Affairs Bruce MacRae. With the generosity and support of our sponsors, golfers and dinner guests New Hope raised over $21,000.
Thanks to the proceeds from the annual Golf Tournament, New Hope family camps, community workshops and support groups for grieving children and families will continue to be provided for the greater Long Beach community. Each of us has been faced with loss at sometime in our lives. New Hope’s mission is to help grieving people find hope and healing during these difficult times. New Hope fulfills this mission by annually serving nearly 1,000 children and families in the Greater Long Beach area and surrounding communities.
Thank You for making this year’s Tournament so great and we hope to see you next year!
